I am going to post this up to keep me motivated: $5,949.28/$17,000. That would be 20% on an 85K mortgage. I still have quite a ways to go.
Kinda bummed - ill yesterday and had to call off and it was extra time (ET=big bucks)... oh well. What can you do?

Yup feeling GREAT!!! Met today with a very nice woman from Dollar Bank's Community Development program and I qualify for lots of great benefits through their program and the county I live in as a first time home buyer. Between the two programs, they will contribute 3k (Dollar Bank) and 3-5K (county) toward my down payment/closing costs. I also qualify for low mortgage rates (3.5% I think she said) so I am super excited. They were very enthusiastic when I showed them my current savings and that I have allotted minimum monthly contribution amounts through the remainder of the year. They liked my credit report - woot! and said they see no reason that I should not be in a home of my own within 3-6 months... She kinda laughed and said the thing that would take the longest would be me finding a house I wanted to buy!

This one of the most incredible things I've seen in a long time. You set a very daunting goal and started with little. You perservered and now are well on your way. Along the way you are finding that there is help with your goal and you wo t have to put up as much as you thought! This is truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing.

Today is the third meeting w. Dollar Bank.... very curious to see how this goes For the program, I have to mail them a sheet every 2 weeks w. my expenses and that is keeping me from spending for sure! Yesterday was zero OOP and today, I will have parking (for the mtg - gen 10-12 bucks), gas station fill up, and possibly oil change if I can squeeze it in. EEK! All necessary though - I would bus in to the meeting but then waiting for my mtg to start and to get home would add 2 hours of just waiting around to my day. It is a 20 min drive. Trying to not beat myself up over it by reminding myself that my time is valuable and I need that time for cleaning and packing. So 10-12 bucks is not TOOOO bad

Can I just say that I hate how tricky companies can be regarding repayment on accounts? I have multiple student loans (9 in fact) and they all are paid through the same website. My loans had been in deferment until recently for financial hardship but I was making payments toward my highest interest loan (6.8%). I was told my repayment amount would be $373 so I was surprised to see that this month's bill was $322. After looking a little mroe closely, I realized that they charged me the minimum payment on all of my loans, but $0 on the loan balance I was trying to get paid down - sneaky buggers!! I paid the $322 payment, then had to make an additional $51 payment toward the specific high interest loan... what a pain! Just glad I caught it - I cannot wait to have the two loans that are at 6.8% paid off in their entirety.
