Hi everyone!
We don't really have a set date in mind for our next WDW trip, but we do want to go in 2011. The date is flexible at this time due to my kids' school schedule and other factors. Because we live too far to drive, we often plan our WDW trips around airfare costs. It doesn't seem to make sense to set a specific date to travel if we can save some money by going a week earlier or later if we can, so we have a rough time frame in mind, and shop around for airfare before we settle on a firm date. We're a family of 4 traveling to WDW.
I just made a deposit...the last one for the month of June. I've started a new spreadsheet to keep track of July's savings and I've already saved a HUGE chunk today by shopping a grocery sale. I got $110 worth of groceries for $40 without coupons! (Yes, I should've couponed I know, but I didn't buy any coupon items today.) I also keep track of my deposits and savings on my blog.
I do little, small goals at a time. When I first started in April of 2010 (completely inspired by Couponing to Disney!) my goal was to just save enough for one person's airfare. I reached that goal in about a month and a half just winging it not knowing what I was doing. Now my next goal is to have all of our airfares covered, which I am about 80% to completing that goal. My ultimate goal, of course, is to have the entire trip covered and paid for before we leave...including souvenirs and incidentals.
Here are my goals:
Airfare $1,000.00
Resort (value) $800.00
Dining $755.00
Park Tickets $1,150.00
Water Park $222.00
Total $3,927.00
I have not budgeted souvenirs, extra activity costs and incidentals yet.
