My husband and I are taking our 9 month old on a cruise to Bermuda in September. My parents and his parents are going with us so there will be plenty of willing babysitters. We are so excited to be able to eat dinner by ourselves or grab a drink and talk. The cruise itself is already paid for so I am using my fund to pay for the onboard account. I figure the more I save, the more I can spend onboard. My goal is $1,250. The breakdown of this is: Tips - $210 ($10 per day, per person) Shore Excursions - $300 Dining in Bermuda - $150 Drinks - $140 ($20 per day) Shopping - $150 Gambling - $ 300 Currently I have $540 in my cruise fund so I have $710 to go by September 19th Wish me luck!

I added another $45 dollars to the account from random checks. My father in law also sent us a huge shipment of meat from Omaha Steaks just to be nice. That will easily shave $50 off of my grocery bill over the next two months so $95 added to the cruise fund!
$660 in the fund with $590 to go.

We participated in Kristen's No Dining Challenge for July. We only ate out or got takeout 4 times the whole month! This is a huge improvement for us. I have decided to add $50 to the cruise fund because we saved at least 4 times that much by not eating out. I also got a $5 refund check from buying paint at home depot and I have $40 in amazon gift cards from swagbucks. I was going to spend that money on myself but I have decided to buy a birthday present with it so I can add it to the vacation fund! $755 in the fund with $485 to go.

Today I redeemed $15 in swagbucks which I am going to use towards my dad's birthday present. I also have a $35 visa gift card from a rite aid rebate and I decided to use it towards groceries today instead of buying a starbucks card like I usually do so $50 towards the fund! $922 in the fund with $318 to go!

It is less than 3 weeks and I am getting so excited! I just added $78 to the fund. $13 from surveys, $10 from swagbucks, $5 I found in an old purse and $50 from participating in No Dining Out August.
$1000 in the fund with $250 to go. I am not sure I am going to be able to make my goal in 20 days but this challenge is definitely motivating me to save money wherever I can!

megs - the saving money you normally would spend is half the battle! Even if you don't quite make your goal, you are gonan be awfully darn close and you have a budget with some wiggle room. Have a great trip!
