We are currently $5000 in dept. Clinicals have been a heavy burden on my family. We are behind on everything. We were couponing to save money for our Disney trip, however, I haven't had time to coupon or even go grocery shopping. Good news - I graduated on the 26th of this month. Hooray for me!!!
I have started to collect coupons again. I've cleaned up my binder. My goal is to spend roughly $100 per week on grocery shopping. Anything left over, including rebates and refunds, will be put into an account opened specifically to pay off our dept. Once I am working I will also deposit my paychecks into this account. Once this dept is paid off, then we will resume saving for our family trip, and shred our credit cards. Then my paychecks will go into savings. This is going to be hard and the kids are sad that we aren't saving for DW, but they understand!!!
This is the breakdown:
Morgage: behind $2400.00 (Sucks!) Credit Cards: $2000.00 (Scary!) Utilities: $600.00
Wish us luck!!!

Hang in there!!! What type of clinicals were u in? Are u an RN??
I very very rarely say this, but my advice is going to be to pay the minimum on the CC until you get the mortgage and utilities caught up... A secure home with lights, gas, water, trumps all in my opinion. When money was tight, those were the bills I always paid first. Stay focused and take things one thing at a time... As Tanya said, we're here to support you!
