I am ALWAYS dodging pictures because I don't like how I look. I want to lose at least 50 pounds before October this year. That is TOTALLY doable! (Right?) I lack the education and motivation to get it done though. On top of that, I have severe body pains that keep me from doing much. I WANT to push through the pain and get it done though. Any tips on how to get motivated?

Start slow with the exercise. You may find that it helps some of the pain. Take inventory of what you eat and when you eat. It is amazing to see how much you really do eat in a day. And of course we will be here to cheer you on!

Definitely start by taking inventory of what you eat. I use the My Fitness Pal App for the iPhone. By tracking what you eat, you can start to see where you can substitute. It's amazing how much I saved by switching to 1/2 cup of egg beaters in the morning instead of 2 eggs. Good luck and welcome to the boards.

No problem. For lunch, I generally pack a Tupperware full of lettuce along with anou 3 oz of chicken. Add a little fat free/low calorie dressing, and you have an under 200 calorie meal. I also love the sugar free Hawaiian Punch singles. You can find them in the dollar store or Target. They are very powerful so I usually mix 1 packet in a 32 oz bottle. For snacks, I will have Cherrios or some whole grain pretzels. It's all about make a lot of small choices (like take the stairs instead of the elevator) that will really start adding up.

Low-calorie lunch sounds like a good idea too. I'm a major water drinker (don't really care for soda or much of anything else) so I'm set on that area, lol. I actually serve those sugar-free Hawaiian Punch singles to my son when he wants something different. I usually only give him a portion of the pack with his water and he's good. Snacking on (healthy) cereal sounds like a good idea too. One of my favorite snacks is popcorn because it's low in calorie and pretty filling...for me at least. I'm hoping to be able to join a gym within the next couple of months. I am just dying to start losing weight!

Hi Gianna!
I'm trying to lose about 50 lbs by December so I'm with you on this journey! I've been struggling to lose the baby weight so I'm trying to find extra motivation and get all my ducks in a row so I can feel good about all those pictures at Disney instead of hiding behind the camera.
I highly recommend My Fitness Pal for tracking calories and exercise. My user name is lovingeire if you want to add me as a friend.
I also just invested in a heart rate/calorie burn watch. I love it for my Zumba classes! A pedometer is also a great way to get moving. You aim for 10,000 steps a day and challenge yourself to do more each day.
I'm sure we can do it!

Thank you! Keep us updated on your progress too! So far, the low-calorie lunch idea has really worked for me! I don't know if I am losing weight, because I don't have a scale. However, I have been feeling better. I hope I can get a scale soon, it's driving me nuts not having one!

How's the journey going? It's not easy but you'll feel great once you get there.
