Paying 472.39 on the small loan with the 6.5% APR.. because I have been paying ahead this month, they were not going to deduct my usual amount, so I applied the usual payment amount plus the extra payment I had planned to make to the one loan.. The balance is now under $200!

*sigh* Well, although the statement stated $0 due, they still deducted my usual payment on top of the extra payment... lol, thank goodness I keep a bit of a money cushion in the account for circumstances like this.

Congrats! We're paying on my oldest daughter's college loans (she's a sophomore) as we can. It's insane how quickly they add up. Good luck.

Cuhoch - It is amazing! I guess I can't complain TOOOO much because I did it to myself - 1st went for 4 years for teaching then back again for nursing, lol! Just got my tax refund - used to pay off our new furniture... one less thing to worry about... now back and focused on student loans.

Well, since paying off the first student loan, my total amount deducted is just under $44 less each month. My regular payment was deducted several days ago and today I made an extra $45 payment on the loan I am trying to pay off. Between the regular and the extra payment, the balance went from 6039.40 to 5862.52!

Yay! Got my January child support today. Since I already paid his January expenses from my income, I am going to take this $250 and apply it towards the student loan! Woot!!!

Well, I fell off the debt repayment bandwagon, but now picking myself back up. Made an extra $106.86 payment toward one student loan today, bringing the balance to $5460. Cannot wait to get that paid in full.

Thanks, Tanya! I am trying to stay focused on the successes this past year - bought the house, paid off one student loan, paid off furniture loan. It's very daunting sometimes but trying to hang in there. I would love to have my car loan and 4 student loans paid off by 12/2015. It's doable if I stay focused and determined. Right now, my latest obstacle is that I need masonry work done on the house to the tune of $1700... Luckily I have money set aside in a "house account" to cover it, but it'll take a while to fill it back up!
