Hi! Welcome to Nifty's Disney Fund! In a strange turn of events, we have decided instead of going to Disney World, we will be going to Disneyland and visiting Sea World and the San Diego Zoo as well. We've never been out there, so I'm not sure how close my estimate are, but here's my rough estimate. If anyone has any suggestions or better ideas of pricing, please let me know. Thanks!
Trip Dates: Summer 2011 10 days Hotel: Disney Grand Californian and hotel in San Diego $2000 Guests: 2 adults, 1 kid Park Hopper: Citi Pass for zoo, disney, sea world, universal $269 adults, $229 children = $767 Dining Plan: no Food budget TBA Goal amount: $3500 Amount saved since 6/15/2010: $1200 (I also have $345 in Disney Reward Dollars and $25 in Disney Gift Cards)

I'm adding $15 to the fund today. My FIL set up at a flea market and sold some of my stockpile. Hooray!

Sounds great! Can you go anytime of the year or do you have to plan around school?

I'm a teacher, so I have to go in the summer. However, it is possible for me to save up my personal days to a point where I could take 4 days off of school. That would have to wait until Sept. 2011 or later though. We will probably be going next summer.

I'm adding to the fund today:
I keep a vacation savings account that we deposit $75 into every month. We returned from vacation in June. I had $739 saved for that vacation, but we only needed $650 thanks to couponing and budgeting.
Today, that savings account becomes the official Disney Vacation account. Which makes my total for the Disney fund $339 since June 15th.

Depending on when you go back to school.. I'd go in august yes it will be hot and humid but its hot and humid all summer since most schools go back mid august its generally very slow down there and its also a value season and generally they have the free dining promotion towards the end of august and into sept.

I'm adding to the fund today. I got my Rite Aid SCR checks and a few other rebates. Plus I sold $55 from my stockpile. Grand total deposit today is $133! We'll get there sooner or later!

Oops - I forgot to add the $75 deposit that we make monthly into the vacation fund. That makes it $547!

Thanks! I feel very confident about making it to our total. The only downside is that I have to spend a week on the other side of the state next summer for grad school, so I'm looking at a week of hotel and food for the 3 of us, as well as entertainment for dh and dd while I'm in class. That will probably run me $1000 total. Plus, we would still like to make our weekly trip to Myrtle Beach, so we're looking at another $1200 there. I still have a ways to go considering all that.
I did get some rebates this week and sold something on craigslist. So I'll have a deposit to the disney fund coming soon.
