Okay, I've been lurking here for awhile, but figured I could use some support so here I am! I have been to Disneyland a number of times (both growing up and as an adult). But, I haven't been to Disney World since my honeymoon in 1998! Well, I'm turning 40 next year (Fall 2012) and what I really want for my birthday is to see Pooh Bear and Mickey Mouse. Besides, my kids have never been to Disney World and I want to take them! I am thinking that I would like to save $5,000. Because that way I can take my family of 4 (myself, DH, and 2 DD) and my parents who have gifted us with 2 family trips to Disney Land. It just wouldn't be the same without them! I started out last week with $48. This week I added another $18.60. My $18.60 was a combination of change from broken dollars and $10 from skipping Zumba classes and exercising at home and $3 from skipping my Large Diet Coke from Mc Donalds on 3 occassions. So, I'm down to needing only $4993.40! Go ME!

I'm so obsessed with the idea, I've been researching which resort I want to stay at... I think I've decided to try to get into the new Animation Resort (Little Mermaid Room)... We're considering Oct. when were you thinking of going? Anywho, I'm excited! I just sold an old textbook on Amazon!!! More $$ to add to my fund! Becky

We are shooting for November, probably second week. I've thought about either Art of Animation or two rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter. AOA would be a little cheaper, but not much. I guess it will depend on how much money I can get saved up! =)
I love Amazon! I resell every semester! =)

I love the idea of spending your 40th birthday at WDW!! I think I may have to work on that. Yes, that would be planning the next trip before I have gone on this one. ;D Good luck and have fun with the saving!!!!

Birthday's are so much fun at WDW! I had the pleasure of spending my 37th birthday there. My oldest DD got to take her first trip to WDW on her sixth birthday. She will be 19 next month. My father and nanny both got to spend their birthdays there this past Christmas. Make sure you get a birthday button from guest services!

Thanks for the support everyone! I've always wanted to spend my birthday at Disney! We were there the week before my older DD once and celebrated her birthday while we were there... But, I figure 40 is a mile stone, and if I'm going to admit I'm 40, I'm going to live it up! HA!

Okay, it's been a tough week money wise in my household... so I'm adding $6 whole WHOPPING dollars to my fund this week, made up of broken dollars and found money.
I did sell an old textbook on Amazon, but I'm not going to count that into the fund until I actually have the money in my pocket! But once I have that money, I'll be able to set up a savings account which will collect interest (even if only a little bit)...
So, recap - Total Saved: $72 Total still needed: $4,924.70
GO ME!

Think of it this way--you had a tough money week, but you were STILL able to make a deposit to your Disney Fund. I think that's pretty awesome!!

In my book, any money added is money you don't have to worry about later, so that's awesome!! =)

I agree! Any money deposited is awesome! Don't get down when you have a bad week.

Sometimes I just get so discouraged when I compare what I have managed to save with what I need to save. Thanks again for the support! Here's to a better week!

It sounds like you are spending about the same amount that we are. I just keep looking at the room size. What I may be doing is trying to do way to much. If there was ever a such thing. I keep seeing my boys getting on the bus to go to the disney ship and thinking we are going home. Then when they see the boat I see the big smile on their face. But then I would like to go to universal while there. I think it will have to be 2 vacations. I think you are off to a great start. I will hopefully have you as a person to lean on for help and support. Let me know. Teresa
