My husband has been in the army for almost 11 year wow. A year ago he was hurt in afghan land and he started the med board process in order to get out of the Army this was a huge wakeup call for us because we have a lot of debt. So we decided to be grown-ups and take responsibility for what we have created so far we have paid off almost 3000 in the last 3 months of our debt. We live on one income now because we had our 2nd child in Feb. we traded in both of our vehicles for one almost 3 weeks ago a brand new van which cut our payments in half. An average savings of almost 600 a month between payment, gas, and insurance all of that is going towards our debt. We cut out cable, lowed our cell phone plan, and started using coupons like crazy, and also we stopped eating out which saved us big time. so here it is in black and white for all to see… Hsbc $81.93 Total card $70.00 oldnavy $134.00 Capital 1 $460.00 s-Capital $660.00 Capital 1 $671.00 Credit 1 $879.00 Applied $1,138.00 Total owed $4,093.93 My goal is to have no credit card debt by nov 1st hopefully this goes as plan…

You can do this! It is a great feeling to be debt-free. I paid off 10K in CC debt following my divorce... I paid highest interest rate off first, although some prefer to pay off lowest balance first. Given any thought to your strategy?

Yeah we are going to do the littlest first and then work our way down if we started with the biggest first it would cost us more money at the end but this month i hope to have at 4 down. After almost 9 years of being together wer finally on the same page about our debt.. But after this debt we r facing law school so another mountain to climb lol. How did u get ur cc debt paid off any advise?

so happy right now ;D I have been reading everyone posts about the deposits they were making and was like where am I supposed to come up with it lol. Then faith stepped in and saved me a 5.99 check from staples for my paper came in. I was so excited because this was my first ever rebate check I know really sad but woohooo. Then I opened up the next letter and there was a check for 440 for making our last car payment after the car dealership had paid it off wooohoo. So we decided to put half in the debt fund and save half for the car payment. We split everything in half in order to have even amounts of money going out every 1st and 15th. 224.99 going into the getting out of debt fund woohooo lol (van payment is 20.00 more than truck payment was so had to take a little bit more than half.)

When I wrote how much we were in debt I did it from my statments rather than from online current balances. Needless to say that my debt was bigger than I had thought and here is the whole thing in real black and white up to date (even some charges that the hubby FORGOT to tell me about oldnavy $149.00 Hsbc $280.00 Total card $161.00 1st premiere $158.00 Capital 1 $460.00 s-Capital 1 $660.00 Capital 1 $671.00 Credit 1 $879.00 Applied Card $1,138.00 $4,556.00 With that being said I have some great news we got back some of my car payment from the last car payment so we paid some debt off this paycheck....(we traded in 2 cars so we got back 1 truck payment and 1 car payment, Our van payment isnt due until the end of this month and I already have half of it to the side) woohoo ( and on a side note the hubby and I cut up all of our cards so we couldn't use them talk about anxiety lol) Old navy paid off, Hsbc paid off, total card paid off, 1st premiere paid off, and we also made payments on everything else so the total for this 2 week period off of our debt is 805.00 woohoo.... Our debt now is 3751.00 woohooo
