See post #6 for all the changes!
It's very exciting! ;D
Hey everyone so I'm starting a new fund for a solo trip for Aug 2011.. I'm going to try and talk my friend into coming but if not solo is fine by me! Here's what I'm planning... 6nights 7 days at Pop Century Aug. 18-24 with quick service dining. I'm going to be purchasing an annual pass so I will be doing a room only adding dining to my ressie sometime in June to give myself enough time to save some money to be able to pay the whole thing in full before the trip. Since I plan on doing a room only and annual pass rate isn't out yet I'm just going to be booking the current 25% off Pop rate with in the next week so that at the 180 day mark I can make a few OOP table service ressies.
I am estimating that the trip will be about $2000 since I am doing a few OOP table service and purchasing an annual pass.
I started this fund on Jan 1st by counting what I had for change and cashing in a few things (inbox dollars, disney visa rewards and adding a few rebates that I hadn't gotten around to depositing) I also have $250 dollars in disney gift cards that I am trying to track down from disney (wicked long story and gives me a headache to even think about) SOOO.. with all that my current totals are: $484/2000 only $1516 dollars left to go... that's only $52.27 a week that needs to be saved!

Thanks! I'm actually looking forward to going solo. I went solo a few years back and had a blast I was on my schedule in no rush to get anything done. I'm thinking of possibly adding a night on the Premium Dining Plan so I can get unlimited tours, tickets to La Nouba, unlimited use of recreational activites (small boats, bikes etc) it includes all you get for deluxe dining. I'm not 100% sure about adding that yet since it would mean I would have to make a split stay reservation.

I love POP! Have you done the QSDP before? We're thinking about that for our next trip but who knows - we may just wind up paying for meals OOP.
When we went in 2006 was the heyday of the dining plan I suppose - tips included and SO much food. Appetizer, entree and dessert for everyone on table service meals... It was SO nice not having to keep on a budget and keep track of spending on vacation. That's the main benefit I see of the dining plan now... Probably just a character flaw of mine... but I HATE having to think about balances, money, bills, etc while on vacation! I stress about that stuff enough when I'm at home! lol

TOTAL CHANGE IN PLANS! So my solo trip got bumped up till March 11-15 (my birthday is the 12th) so I'm just going to wing that trip taking money from other places to pay for that including some b-day money that ill be getting (I asked for it)
But I will be saving for a surprise trip with my friend and her two daughters who will be 8 and 3 when we go in November. The girls won't even see it coming since they are going with their grandmother aunt and cousin and their mom as well... But my friend got a pin code with a variety of dates including Nov. they've never been in nov nor been to the christmas party
Since my friend is a SAH mom (only because she's got laid off) I am going to be helping finance this little adventure plus I was kinda the one that talked her into this not that she really needed that much persuading
So with the Pin our hotel is $424 standard room at the Pop- I will try and pay about $300 Flight I'm guessing will be about $250 Food $250 mostly quick service splitting meals possibly a table service or 2 Spending money $250 ill try to get some xmas presents MVMCP $150 i will surprise the girls with their tickets itll be their birthday and xmas presents wrapped into one (my friend will get her own) Pass- $0 I'll be getting my annual pass in march
The total im looking at is $1250
I'm actually going to be starting over with my savings starting Feb 1 (today) since most of the money I had put aside was for my solo trip which I moved up
