I am a widow and mother to a beautiful "Disney loving" DD9. We experienced Disney World together for the first time in September of 2009 and are anxious to get back in 2011. Shortly after we returned from our trip last year, I discovered the "Couponing to Disney" site and thought what a fun challenge it would be to see if I could save enough money for our next vacation using only "found money." I have booked our trip for September 18-25, 2011 at Pop Century with the Free Quick Service Dinning promo. The total came to $1349. I use my Disney rewards card to pay for everything I possibly can and pay the balance off each month. Therefore, I had 128 Disney Dollars to use towards the $200 deposit. The other $72 was from loose change I have been saving. Based on our last trip, I am factoring in another $300 for gas, souvenirs, etc. This brings my total savings goal to $1649 with a balance of 1449 remaining. Some of the ways I will be saving for the trip are yard sales, rebates, and money left out of the monthly budget. My daughter always saves her own spending money for vacations. We do a yard sale once or twice a year and she gets to keep the money for whatever she sells. This is a great way for me to get her to clean out her toys and get rid of stuff. ;D In addition to her allowance she also earns money doing extra stuff around the house (i.e raking the yard, etc.) Last year she saved over $100 of her own money to take on vacation. She wants to do the Secret Star Makeover at the BBB, so she is aiming to save at least $150 this time.

I put another $25 on our reservation today. ($15 earned from selling some books online and another $10 in rebates). This brings the balance down to $1124.

They sure do! I just got a rebate check in the mail today and still waiting on a couple of more. I should have another $20 to pay on our trip by the end of next week. It's gonna be slow going until after Christmas. Hopefully, after the first of the year, I can start putting anything leftover in the monthly budget towards the fund.

Got two more rebate checks in the mail today. I have received 3 rebate checks in the past two weeks totaling 21.08: $7.49 from "World's Best Cat Litter", $3.59 from "Smart Balance" milk, a $10 Rite Aid rebate. I made a payment of $20 on our vacation and put the other $1.08 in our change jar. This brings the balance down to $1104.03 BTW-I have until August 4, 2011 to pay the full balance on our vacation. It shouldn't be a problem to round up the other $300 in spending money since I will be adding what our normal weekly expenses would have been the week we are at Disney. Also, I should have another $200 in change and Disney Rewards Dollars by then. Therefore, my main focus is getting the balance of our vacation paid off first and foremost. After that, everything else should fall together.:-)

I haven't had time to post anything in a while but I have made a couple of more small payments to my vacation totaling $47. Here's what I had:
$10 Aveeno Rebate $2 from Pilot Pen $2.99 Drano money back guarantee (it only partially unclogged my drain) $6.99 Rite Aid Single Check Rebate $25 for a survey from MediGuard (I was linked to them through Survey Spot I think). This is a two party medical survey from which I received $25 for the pre-survey and will receive another $150 once I complete the second part of the study. Also, I am waiting on a cash out in the amount of $16.70 from Quick Rewards and will make another payment once I have a little more to go with it.:-)
It's difficult to keep from spending all this extra money on Christmas right now, but I'm doing my best to be persistent!

Have you made any more deposits lately? I know with Christmas coming, it was probably hard. Keep up the great work!

That second check from the MediGuard survey is going to be a fabulous deposit!! Great job so far! And I love that your daughter helps save, too.
