It has been amazing to read everything you have accomplished in a little over a year to make the dream of a home for you and your son become a reality. Great job lady!!!!!!!

Thanks, Tanya! It has been a whirlwind year The first night I get to sit on our couch in our home, enjoying the fireplace will make all of this uphill struggle soooo worth it! Paid our first year's homeowner's insurance today - one less thing on the must-do list. I am now just waiting for my packet to come back from the Dollar Bank underwriters, then it must go to the county program for my down payment assistance. I have nine days til the scheduled closing; I am praying things will come together by then, but it may be tight. Either way, I am staying positive and can't help but feel overjoyed knowing within the next two weeks, I will be holding the key to my house in my hands!!

My delay in employment verification held up the whole process... Oh well, all things in time.

*sigh* still stuck on the mortgage roller coaster!!! and nauseous.. lol! Well, I made $100 too much to qualify for one of the grants (bye bye $3,000) .. luckily I had set aside "extra" money to help w move-in expenses, like paint and furniture... That now will go toward down payment. On the positive side, since the paperwork doesn't have to go to the underwriter's of that program, I may still close on Wednesday... **fingers crossed** Now gonna start another thread listing some of the expenses w expected cost...must save $$

I close on the house Tuesday morning at 10 am. I only need to bring about $5500 in so that leaves about $5,700 in my account.. Going to keep about $2500 in there for repairs and the like (emergency fund) and use the rest to buy furniture, paint, etc.

We bought a big Christmas tree for the living room - we'll put that up tomorrow night and a little 3-foot one for Bobby's room. Now to just find the boxes with the ornaments - lol! Everything is coming together and we should be able to sleep in our new place tomorrow night! woot!
