We are a family of 5 in upstate South Carolina headed to WDW in December for Christmas!!! I started my fund 5/21/10 with a current balance of $874! I have not made my deposit for this weeks savings.
I really don't have a budget planned but reservations have been made at the Radisson Maingate for 13 nights. I got the room really cheap and since we are annual pass holders parking is free.
Room: 1049.00 (paid for already) Gas: 400.00 (I always over budget for gas) Food: 1500.00 (We usually come in under that) Tickets: 0.00 - annual passes Spending: 500.00
Total: 2400.00 Got: 874.00 Needed: 1526.00

Wow! You are getting so close!! Question: how many days do you need to go for an annual pass to be worth the purchase? Do you go more than once a year! Thanks, and keep up the good work!

A 5 day adult park hopper will cost you 299.00 with tax. A adult annual pass is $521 with tax. A 10 day park hopper with no expioration will cost $537 with tax. Since we will be there for 13 days we chose the annual passes for us. We have had them before in the past and made 3 trips in one year. Well worth it. Also Disney has been known to offer 15 months for the price of 12. Some friends of ours got that deal in December of last year and have made 3 trips so far with another coming before school starts. And once you are a pass holder if you renew them every year they are cheaper. We will go in December, in Jan. for the MLK holiday, spring break, and again sometime in the fall. It is worth it if you are a close drive. 6 hours for us.

We live in SC, too (Charleston) and were thinking about getting annual passes once our baby gets a little older since my husband's aunt lets us use her timeshare at Wyndham Bonnett Creek Resort-so all we really have to pay for is tickets, food, souvenirs, gas, etc...seems like annual passes might be the way to go for us- thanks for laying out the comparisons!! You're getting so close to your goal!!

Go for it Charlestonmommy! It is well worth it!! You will also get discounts at some of the stores in Downtown Disney for being an annual pass holder!
I also sat down last night and looked at how much it would really cost us in gas. Since we traded our Dodge Ram extended cab truck in for a Chevy Impala we will be able to cut our gas budget down to about $150 but I am still going to budget $200. That takes $200 off of the original amount of $2400. With $1339 already saved that brings us to $1061 still needed. I will be making another deposit today during my lunch break today. I will post an update as soon as I get back!
